Rekordis iOS Privacy Policy
Updated November 2, 2026. This policy covers the Rekordis app for iPhone and iPad (com.wowcoded.speedometergps). The Rekordis website has a separate privacy policy.
Rides and location
The app uses location permission to show your live speed and position, record a ride, and recover a recording after an interruption. A ride you start may continue recording while another app is open or your phone is locked. Confirmed route points are stored on your device. Imported routes and guides are stored locally too. The app does not automatically upload them to the Rekordis website or share them with other users.
If you enable iCloud sync, saved rides are copied to your private iCloud Documents container managed by Apple. You can leave sync off, delete individual rides, or clear ride history in the app. A route is exported only when you choose Share or Save to Files. The destination app or service you select handles the exported file under its own terms.
Motion, maps and links
With Motion & Fitness permission, the app adds activity context to rides. Depending on the selected provider, maps use Apple MapKit or OpenStreetMap data served by OpenFreeMap. Map requests disclose your IP address and the requested map area to the selected provider. Offline map downloads also contact OpenFreeMap for map tiles, styles, fonts and icons. Downloaded maps are stored on your device and can be removed in Settings. Apple and OpenFreeMap process requests under their own privacy terms. If you open a source link from an imported guide, your browser contacts that destination.
Remote Camera
The optional Remote Camera feature pairs two of your phones over a local connection to control recording. Video and, when enabled, sound stay on the camera phone; a video can also be saved to Photos with your permission. The app does not send video to a Rekordis server.
Photos, videos, face and body processing
You choose when to capture a photo or video or select media from Photos. Studio processes source photos and videos only on your device using the operating system's image-analysis capabilities. For face effects, the app temporarily derives 2D landmarks: face bounds, eye positions and contours, the face contour, and face position/orientation. For person effects, it temporarily derives a person-silhouette mask and placement in the frame. These results are used only to place and render the effect you selected. The app does not identify or authenticate anyone, create a biometric template, or track a person across apps or sessions.
Face landmarks and person masks exist only in memory during analysis and rendering; the app does not save them as separate data or send them to us, Apple, or other providers. Analysis and rendering do not use a remote service. The selected source media is temporarily held in the app's private temporary workspace while the editor is open; the app removes that workspace when the editor closes. If the app is interrupted, temporary files may remain until later app or system cleanup. Previews and the finished file are also kept locally while needed by the editor and system share sheet.
Only if you explicitly save or share a result is the finished photo or video passed to the destination you choose. The result may visibly contain a face, a person's image and the applied effect; the source landmarks and mask are not included as data in the file. The recipient handles the shared file under its own terms. Saved results remain in the destination you chose until you delete them.
The gallery thumbnail uses only media the operating system allows the app to access. You can change camera, microphone and Photos permissions in iOS Settings. Results you save remain in the chosen destination until you delete them.
Health workouts
Health is an optional source for sports artwork. Only after your explicit source action and system permission does the app read existing workouts: activity type, date, duration, available distance and active calories. Workout routes require a separate optional permission when you choose to include one. The app does not write to Health or request clinical records, daily energy, heart rate, steps, age, biological sex, height or weight through HealthKit.
The selected workout is processed locally for the current composition. It is not added to the saved-ride archive, synced through the app’s iCloud archive or uploaded to our servers. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising, profiling or sale. You choose which measurements appear. Only when you explicitly save or share do those visible measurements become part of the photo or video. Review them before exporting. Photos and Files may sync the result according to your Apple settings; a destination app handles shared media under its own terms. You can manage read permissions in Health settings. Declining access leaves other data sources available.
Optional profile and sharing
If you want a calorie estimate when no recorded energy is available, you may enter your weight. It is stored locally and used with the activity type and duration. You can edit or reset it in Settings. Estimates are informational, not medical measurements. Editing artwork measurements does not change the original workout or route.
Sharing happens only after your action through the system share sheet. Rekordis prepares the selected media and an attribution caption without a URL; destination apps may ignore the caption. Copying the caption is a separate explicit action. Rekordis does not post to social accounts automatically.
Purchases and contact
Apple processes subscriptions and lifetime purchases through the App Store and StoreKit. Apple may send us purchase-status information to help manage access; it does not contain your routes or videos. You do not need a Rekordis account to use the app. We do not use app data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
If you contact support, we use your message and email address to reply. For data or deletion questions, email [email protected]. On-device data can be deleted in the app or by removing the app; iCloud copies can also be managed through Apple's settings.
